Program Details

RCOY Europe 2026 is built around the Diplomacy, Knowledge, and Culture Programs. Each equips the participants with unique skills, insight, and opportunities in its own distinct way, working to reinforce one another to create an experience greater than the sum of its parts.

Diplomacy Program

Diplomacy Program

The Diplomacy Program is a Model UN–style negotiation process training participants in multilateral negotiation, coalition-building, and policy drafting to produce a legitimate, evidence-informed Regional Youth Statement (RYS) feeding into YOUNGO's Global Youth Statement 2026 for advocacy at COP31.

Through thematic Councils such as Meaningful and Binding Youth Participation; Radical Reform of Climate Education (ACE); Adaptation and Disaster Resilience; Just Transition and the End of Extractivism; Peace, Security, and Intergenerational Equity; and Transparent and Accessible Climate Finance—delegates develop position papers, engage in moderated and unmoderated caucuses, and adopt consolidated two-page policy outcomes that capture regional priorities distilled from 11 Local Youth Statements.

Knowledge Program

Knowledge Program

The Knowledge Program is the capacity-building pillar, using mandatory pre-conference online modules and in-person workshops to equip young climate advocates with the technical grounding, negotiation literacy, and advocacy skills needed to engage meaningfully in international climate and human rights processes such as GCOY, UNFCCC COPs, and UNHRC.

The Programme aims to build hard and soft skills (science-to-policy translation, media literacy, stakeholder mapping), foster peer-mentor circles, create a replicable curriculum, strengthen links between LCOY chapters and regional structures, and broaden participation to youth who are new to climate activism. It is separated across three overarching thematic tracks:

Human Rights

x

Climate Justice

Human Rights

x

Climate Justice

From articles of the Universal Human Rights Declaration (UNGA, 1948) to real-life stories of climate disaster impact, participants can expect to apply the human rights framework to identify real-life climate injustices, and use their knowledge to advocate according to international law.

Sustainable Development

x

Climate Education

This track aims to promote innovative educational approaches, empowering youth to climate action and equipping them with skills needed to succeed in environmental and climate advocacy.

By connecting SDGs with practical knowledge, it ensures our public discussions and negotiations are based on the best available science.

Biodiversity

x

Water

The goal of this track is to address Europe's climate risks by tackling critical biodiversity loss by wildfire, together with droughts, heatwaves, and severe floods.

Integrating traditional indigenous ecology knowledge and blue-green infrastructure planning, it aims to incubate practical collective action with a focus on ‘glocal’ problem-solving.

Culture Program

Culture Program

The Culture Program is the creative pillar, deepening participants' experience through art, heritage, culture, music, and community-building. Helping young advocates find teammates, bond with like-minded peers, and process their climate grievances to translate concerns into visible, shareable forms of expression, all while building practical skills to bring back to their communities.

The Culture evening offers live music performances and afterparties with music listening sessions. This balances the emotional weight of climate work with joy, rest, and informal networking, letting social energy and trust foster across the cohort.
